Dream Big. Push boundaries. Work hard. Hilton Area Manager Cedric Nubul Talks About His Decades‑Long Dedication to Empowerment

At Hilton, we believe diversity makes us stronger, more innovative and more representative of the many guests and communities we serve around the world. Hilton celebrates Black History Month by honoring team members who are making an impact within the company and in the communities they support.

One such leader is Cedric Nubul, area manager for Brazil and general manager of Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana and Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro. Nubul, a French national born in Paris, originally from Martinique in the Caribbean, is a hospitality industry veteran with 23 years of experience. His Hilton career has spanned from finance and commercial to operations in full-service and luxury brands across France, Spain, Italy, Maldives, Malaysia, Curacao, Colombia and Singapore.

Known as a leader who empowers his team, Nubul has garnered numerous awards for his work, including General Manager of the Year and President's Excellence in Leadership Award in the Americas region, Best Hotel Opening and Performance Excellence Award in the Asia Pacific region, and Best New Meetings Hotel Asia Stella Awards.

Nubul began working with Hilton after graduating with a Masters in Hotel Management from IUP Marne La Vallee, and while he was originally drawn to the company’s international reputation as a leader in luxury resorts, his decades-long career at Hilton has led him to find a deeper appreciation for what the brand represents.

“I love the company culture and values,” said Nubul. “More than operating hotels, our Travel with Purpose vision is something I am passionate about, and being able to impact our communities and push boundaries when it comes to sustainability is something I really like about our mission.”

Travel with Purpose is Hilton’s global strategy to advance responsible travel and tourism. It fosters opportunity for people, both within Hilton and for those in communities all around the world. From remaining dedicated to the protection of human rights to seeking ways to operate and grow sustainably, Hilton works to serve as an innovator in the future of global travel.

“From a Travel with Purpose standpoint, we have a lot of opportunities to impact our communities,” said Nubul. He takes a lot of pride in his involvement in development programs such as the Pretonomia project, which recently provided opportunities to 22 culinary students, as well as the relaunch of other programs designed to help shape the future of other talented individuals within the tourism industry.

It’s this sort of growth and career development that drives Nubul’s leadership beliefs. As he says, “I love to inspire our team members, but also young kids across the communities that will feel represented through me. [I want them to know] that they can accomplish their dreams.”

Nubul’s motto for his team is “The sky is the limit,” and he works to provide the support, resources, and experiences needed to elevate his team members and set them up for success. When speaking to his team, Nubul says, “Dream Big. Push boundaries. Work hard.”

It’s this “team first” philosophy that’s allowed Nubul to succeed throughout his career at Hilton, and he remains steadfast in his dedication to contributing to the development and growth of the amazing talents found within his community in Brazil.

At Hilton, we strive to create an inclusive workplace, provide programs and benefits that help team members be their best selves, and make sure they’re recognized for all they do. We know that when our team members are able to bring their whole selves to work, they create memorable experiences for our guests. Their hard work and open hearts inspire us every day, and they are why Hilton is a force for good in the world, why our guests stay with us again and again, and why we have been recognized as the No. 1 World’s Best Workplace by Great Place to Work and Fortune, the first hospitality company to receive this honor. Hilton has been recognized as a Great Place to Work for the past eight years, ranking in more than 35 countries, and recognized with over 460 Great Place to Work awards from around the world since 2016.
